AT&T's Big Number

Article Abstract:

AT&T has introduced UNIX, a new operating system for computers that the company hopes to make the universal software standard. Users of UNIX will be able to shift between brands of UNIX-based computers. This will give users a new freedom to change models and makers. UNIX is multi-tasking and multi-user. UNIX's big drawing card is that it is usable on many different kinds of hardware. UNIX is best suited for super micro and mini computers, that accomodate from two to eight users. This is a size for which many see a booming office automation demand.
