Advertisers find one of the last clutter-free places; image-polishing mission takes Radio Shack to the moon on a solar-powered rover

Article Abstract:

Radio Shack will give LunaCorp. $1 mil a year in exchange for placing the electronics retailer's logo on a lunar rover. The 'Icebreaker' vehicle, scheduled for launch several years from now, will seek evidence of water on the lunar surface. Radio Shack hopes the association will improve its image as a high tech company. LunaCorp. estimates it needs $130 mil for the mission and seeks other advertising sponsors.

Boeing study questions product outlays; certain planes, other lines produce meager return; big overhaul is planned

Article Abstract:

Boeing's study of its "sources of value" shows that nine out of forty of its lines of business will either just break even or not show a profit. Under the new CFO Deborah Hopkins, executives are planning to drop some enterprises and expand others. The company wants to provide better shareholder return for the $13 billion that it invests in its products.

Boeing expects to cut 6,700 more jobs from commercial-jet group this year

Article Abstract:

Better than expected progress in production methods by Boeing Co.'s commercial jet employees should allow the company to reduce the payroll even more than it thought it could by year-end. Between voluntary resignations, job eliminations and attrition, total employment could be down to 93,700 instead of 100,400 from its current 111,400.
