An Approach to the Optimal Positioning of a New Product

Article Abstract:

Firms face a problem of positioning a new product in a product class. The Consumer decides on a product class then on the competing objects with a class which have prices acceptable. This evaluation is performed through a weighted multi-attribute utility model. A mixed integer nonlinear program identifies promising positions for the new product. A algorithm for small samples is developed. Larger problems use an efficient heuristic model.

Computationally Efficient Optimal Solutions to the Lot-Sizing Problem in Multistage Assembly Systems

Article Abstract:

The scheduling of lot sizes in multistage production facilities is a common problem in Material Requirements Planning Systems (MRP). Optimal solutions have been limited to small problems. An effective optimization algorithm has been developed. A Branch and Bound algorithm uses the bounds developed by a relaxation method. Tables of numerical results are available.

Computationally Efficient Optimal Lot-Sizing Problem in Multistage Assembly Systems

Article Abstract:

Lot size scheduling in a multistage assembly system is a common problem in material requirements planning (MRP). New procedures are developed to solve this problem. The literature is reviewed. The problem is defined. A branch and bound algorithm is developed. These algorithms have reasonable computing times. Tables and illustrative figures are included.
