Business at the speed of light
Article Abstract:
The Internet and innovative manufacturing/distribution processes have helped the computer industry, especially Dell, grow rapidly. Dell's electronic infrastructure gives it a current advantage over other companies. Almost 20% of its products are sold over the Internet, which translates to $18 million in Internet sales daily. Personal computer manufacturers lead the world in efficiency. At Dell, suppliers deliver supplier-owned parts directly to the factory, where PCs are assembled, shipped, and invoiced within hours. In Australia, sales of computers grew by 35% in first quarter 1999.
