Canada: 1996-97 budget continues spending cuts

Paul Martin, Canada's Finance Minister, put forth a budget for FY 1996-97 that would reduce the budget deficit to $18 billion, and announced that the deficit for FY 1995-96 would likely be lower than expected. Social benefits to the elderly were changed to lower their costs.

1996 presidential campaign: third-quarter spending reports released
Article Abstract:
The Federal Elections Commission released 3rd qtr presidential campaign spending reports on Oct 16, 1995. Bob Dole raised $5.6 million during the quarter, more than double the amount of any other Republican candidate. Pat Buchanan came in second, raising $2.09 million.
