Article Abstract:
The engineering and construction group at Iowa Beef Processing, Inc. has from $40 to $80 million annually in capital expenditures and employs 100 to 300 people, depending on the number of construction projects under way. The accounting department is expected to provide timely and accurate information about project expenses, ensure compliance with company expenditure authorization policies, account for expenditures, and assign values to assets for depreciation purposes. The selection of the Capital Project Management System (CPMS) software package from Data Design Associates was based on criteria established by the accounting department, which included ease of use, the ability to track expenditures and convert them to fixed assets upon completion of a project, and audit trails included. accuracy and an accountability record.

R&D project team climate and team performance in Korea: a multidimensional approach
Article Abstract:
The project team approach in R&D as adopted by both government and private research institutes in Korea is evaluated. Results showed that team performance was adversely affected by factors such as autonomy, cohesiveness, change orientation and work pressure. However, autonomy has a negative impact on team performance when change orientation and work pressure prevailed in a team. Autonomous teams with little change orientation exhibited low performance.

Motorola, NCR Team Up for 68000 System Enhancement
Article Abstract:
Motorola and NCR Corp. are developing an enhancement of VERSADOS, a real-time operating system designed for Motorola's M68000 family of processors. The new product, called VDOS II, will provide a ten-fold improvement in switching times for real-time tasks. Preliminary benchmark testing shows VDOS II to have 3.5 times performance improvement in task scheduling, intertask communications, and interrupt response.
