John Coatsworth, Director of Harvard's David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, discusses the relationship between Mexico and the US under the presidential leadership of Vicente Fox and George W. Mexico and U.S. agree to extend maquiladora tax regime

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning an agreement between the US and Mexico to extend the tax regime governing maquiladoras are examined. Topics include an agreement to replace that regime with forthcoming international tax rules from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), although the US and Mexico are not bound to do so if the OECD regime proves inadequate.
