Clinique solves Web dilemma with quiet ads
Article Abstract:
Estee Lauder doesn't want to alienate department stores that sell Clinique products, but it also wanted to get Clinique online. It is one of the few consumer-products sellers that has put the entire line on the Internet. President William Lauder claims Internet shoppers are a different group of people than are those who like the more social aspect of department store shopping. It is a definite advantage for the company to use the Internet channel to sell because it almost has to sell at regular retail prices and it can promote the electronic alternative for very little expenditure. Links to the site are very low-keyed.

Surgical glue removes much pain and time from closing wounds
Article Abstract:
Closure Medical Corp. is the only U.S. company with an FDA-approved product that can be used as a substitute for sutures to close a wound or an incision. The company is based in Raleigh, N.C., and the surgical adhesive is called Dermabond. So far, consumers cannot purchase the product; only doctors and hospitals can; but consumers can ask for it. It is popular with parents because children generally hate the injection that is given before stitches are sewn. Surgical glue is anticipated to eventually provide 40% of the closures now done with sutures.
Comment:
Dermabond is the only surgical "glue" currently available
