Competitive procurement under demand uncertainty
Article Abstract:
Those who must accumulate goods that are in short supply must often cope with game-theoretic outcomes stemming from the fact that unit purchasing expenses grow with aggregate requirements. A competitive inventory procurement model is suggested for countries that face uncertain demand, and is then analyzed as a strategy game. Both cooperative and non-cooperative elements of the problem are studied. Significant incentives exist for cooperating.
