Consumer prices unchanged in June

The Labor Dept announced that the figures for the Jun 1993, consumer price index remained the same as the May figures. The Labor Dept also reported that producer prices decreased 0.3% and retail sales increased 0.4% in Jun 1993. Stocks prices were up after the favorable news.

CPI increases 0.5% in January

Article Abstract:

The Labor Dept announced Feb 18, 1993, that the CPI increased 0.5% in Jan 1993. The increased followed a 0.1% rise recorded in Dec 1992. The 'core' inflation rate, which includes food and energy prices, also rose by 0.5% in Jan 1993.

Clinton acts to raise cattle prices

Article Abstract:

Clinton ordered the Agricultural Department to open more public lands to cattle grazing and purchase more beef for school lunches in order to raise beef prices. Oversupply of cattle is blamed for the record low prices.
