The Corporate Law Economic Reform Bill was introduced in Australia's Parliament by Treasurer Peter Costello on Jul 2, 1998. The bill proposes changes in laws governing takeovers, raising funds, accounting standards and board directors' operations. The aim of the bill is to ensure that Australia becomes the major business force in the Asia/Pacific area.
