Trade sanctions were imposed on Yugoslavia by the European Community (EC), a measure aimed at ending the fighting in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nearly half of Yugoslavia's imports come from EC countries. The US also announced measures against Yugoslavia.

Former Yugoslavia: Milosevic rejects U.N. peace bid

Milosevic rejected a peace plan on Feb 19, 1995, that would have lifted UN sanctions against the region in return for Yugoslavia's help in partitioning Bosnia-Herzegovina between Serbs and Muslims. The plan was backed by the US and four other nations.
