Cultural differences between Mandarin-speaking tourists and Australian hosts and their impact on cross-cultural tourist-host interaction
Article Abstract:
The Australian tourism industry has been steadily growing since 1994 due to the influx of Asian travellers from countries, such as Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. Cultural differences which exist between Western and Asian travellers, such as values, behavior, communication patterns, and attitudes, are perceived to be major factors which could further boost growth in the sector. Marketers should recognize the said differences and use them to shape the targeting and positioning of their services to make them more efficient.
