The dilemma over the issue on $7.6 billion present in inactive superannuatuion accounts will eventually end up in consolidated revenue and the Labor sources calling for the distribution of the funds to their owners by the tax office, is discussed.

No big budget reserve: after a tough year, the Reserve Bank is unlikely to tip much into government coffers

The Reserve Bank of Australia had to face a tough year, as the increase in interest rates has led to a reduction in the values of its long-term securities making it less profitable. It has also been affected badly on the foreign exchange front.
