Double Teaming
Article Abstract:
One man who read the book 'In Search of Excellance' took an idea from the book and successfully applied it to his business. The idea was to assign teams within a company to solve specific, difficult problems. A manufacturer of speciality mechanics hand tools faced stiff competition from more cheaply priced Asian imports. He assigned two teams to figure out ways to reduce costs, and then he turned the assignment into a competition. Not only did he solve his problem, costs will be reduced by fifty percent when the solutions devised are implemented, but the contest generated never before seen enthusiasm in the staff.
