Double-jeopardy plea rejected
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that evidence used in sentencing for one crime can be used to prosecute a defendant on separate charges. In Witte v US, Steven Kurt Witte had argued unsuccessfully that allowing such evidence violated his right to be protected from double jeopardy.

RTC sues Western officers
Article Abstract:
The RTC charged Western Savings and Loan Assn's officers with racketeering and fraud in a $1.5-billion lawsuit on Jun 13, 1992. The lawsuit was the largest of its kind involving a savings and loan association.
