EU pledges 'Mad Cow' disease financial support for Britain
Article Abstract:
The European Union announced on Apr 3, 1996, that it will pay around 70% of the UK's costs to destroy millions of cattle that may be infected with bovine spongiform encephalopathy, also known as 'Mad Cow' disease. The EU placed a ban on UK beef exports in Mar 1996.

The US has protested against the efforts of Serbians to evade the trade embargo imposed on Yugoslavia by the United Nations Security Council. The US asked for stronger efforts to end embargo violations.
