Emerging high-tech firms: how durable are their comparative start-up advantages?
Article Abstract:
A study of successful entrepreneurial firms in the high-technology field is presented. The first eight years of operation of 73 high-technology Canadian firms is analyzed to determine the durability of the start-up advantages inherent in venture companies. The study shows that only three factors provide a long-term positive effect on operations, namely: initial sales volume, initial government orientation and previous government contracting experience.
