The Estonian parliament passed a law Jun 21, 1993, requiring people who do not apply for residency within two years to leave the country. Ethnic Russians were outraged by the law and held demonstrations within Estonia. Russia withheld natural gas deliveries to Estonia for five days.

Women's prison scored by investigator

Article Abstract:

Correctional Investigator Ron Stewart determined that several women prisoners were victims of illegal strip-searches by male corrections officers, which contradicts a report made by the Correctional Service of Canada. The incidents occurred after a prison disturbance in Apr 1994.
