Everyone's a gambler in Victoria's newest 'casino.'(government's gas transmission/distribution plan)(Column)

Article Abstract:

Victoria's gas supply, transmission, and distribution business model is filled with problems, as the model places the financial risk with the supply-chain participants. Gas retailers must bid for the gas from the producers/distributors on a 24-hour basis, which can interrupt pipeline maintenance schedules and make it difficult for retailers to estimate how much gas will be used in that period. Ultimately, if the business model fails, the consumers will pay heavily.

We all listen to a false profit

Article Abstract:

Today's corporations exist to achieve returns for their stockholders; these companies are measured solely for profits earned. Other elements including ethics and values, respect for people and the environment, and business longevity are important only in their ability to achieve returns for their investors. This current system is corrupting our commercial and work environments.
