FBI Director Sessions fired over ethics charges

Pres Clinton fired FBI director Sessions Jul 19, 1993, because of ethics violations documented in a report released in Jan 1993. Sessions, who denied all wrongdoing, refused to resign. On Jul 20, 1993 Clinton picked Judge Louis J. Freeh to replace Sessions. Freeh received bipartisan support.

AIDS co-discoverer faces new charges

Article Abstract:

Pres Bush officially refused a request by the French government for a larger share of royalties from a blood test for HIV. The disagreement over the royalties started in part from allegations that Robert Gallo, the American codiscoverer of the test, had committed fraud in his research.

New charges in billion-dollar scandal

Article Abstract:

New charges were filed on Dec 2, 1992, against a former Indian government employee in a financial scandal resulting from a loss of approximately $1.25 billion in Indian overseas investments. The scandal has so far cost the jobs of three Indian cabinet-level officials.
