FCB chief sets creativity improvement as top priority

FCB Worldwide's chief, Brendan Ryan is not only promoting the health of the merger of Interpublic Group with True North Communications, but is also planning to stress more creative advertising, FCB's achilles heel in the past. The fifth-largest ad agency is stinging from the loss of DaimlerChrysler but scored Samsung Electronics, Kraft Foods, Taco Bell and Boeing. Ryan is gifted at wooing clients and plans to lead his 8,500-employee group into hot competition with giant McCann-Erickson.

Ken Kaess was named chairman of DDB Worldwide Communications Group on Friday, April 30, 1999. He was one of the first male students to graduate from Vassar College and now he is to lead the management of the new DDB Needham. The company hopes he will successfully lead them into the new millennium.
