FDA approves the first new treatment for tuberculosis in more than decade
Article Abstract:
A new tuberculosis drug has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The drug is the first new treatment for tuberculosis in over a decade. Users will not have to take as many doses in the long regimen, which takes several months. The drug, rifapentine, will allow patients to complete their treatment in a less-strenuous manner. This could aid in preventing the growth of strains that are resistant to drugs.
