Framing of international research alliances: influence on strategy

Article Abstract:

A study investigated the significance of developing a framework for considering possible alliance strategies within the context of the influence of perceived government policy stances on the alliance strategy of research and technology institutes. The model is proposed as a method of seeing and thinking that will alert managers to different ways of understanding and, therefore, managing. It is illustrated in a case study on the development of an international research alliance between a New Zealand research and technology institute and a US superconductivity company.
