Frank Perdue has been involved with chickens and eggs since he was a child. His company sells and markets chicken. His company sold 525 per cent more chickens in 1983 than in 1968. He credits skillful advertising with the increased growth. He is constantly trying to maintain and increase the quality of his products.

Products Liability, Consumer Misperceptions, and Market Power
Article Abstract:
Liability from product defects is examined for its effect on market performance. Strict liability, no negligence and no liability are compared. Producers with market power benefit from the ability to shift liability to the consumer. Strict liability rules are preferred.

Reputation and Product Quality
Article Abstract:
Consumer behavior in dealing with products of unknown quality is modeled. High quality firms attract more customers because of reputation. Higher fixed costs result in a higher equilibrium level of quality. Word-of-mouth advertising has a significant effect on usage.
