Frequent-flier games: the problem of employee abuse
Article Abstract:
Assumptions of widespread employee abuse of airlines' frequent flier programs are apparently incorrect. Corporations should consider frequent flier benefits to be a form of compensation for their travelling employees. Employees should in return make travel plans that are in the corporations's best interests, rather than accrue credited air miles unnecessarily. Employees become hostile when frequent flier benefits are confiscated to save the corporation on future travel expenses, particularly as US airlines do not yet differentiate between corporate and personal trips.

CEO pay at the crossroads of Wall Street and Main: toward the strategic design of executive compensation
Article Abstract:
A strategically-designed executive compensation package is the crucial factor that would help increase the accountability of executives to shareholders in addition to maximizing their individual performance. Critics of the method argue that basing executive pay on firm performance may cause managers to stress short-term profitability to the detriment of long-term viability. Hence, it is imperative that top management identify an appropriate measure of firm performance and also consider the timing of the rewards.

Does incentive compensation lower executives' willingness to take risks?
Article Abstract:
Executive pay practices are being monitored by organizational constituencies who feel that pay packages should afford management greater accountability. A study shows that managers of riskier initial public offering firms are not enthusiastic about incentive-based compensation. However, basing pay on performance is expected to result in good corporate governance.
