Business as a living system: the value of industrial ecology

Article Abstract:

Environmental destruction compromises the integrity of the Western business system, and it is increasingly apparent that nature does not provide many models for sustainable development. Executives' acknowledgment of ecological limits often leads to incorporating sustainable elements into corporate strategy.

A framework for analyzing environmental voluntary agreements

Article Abstract:

Environmental Voluntary Agreements (VAs) emerged in the 1990s to develop innovative solutions for environmental problems companies or regulators would have probably not created independently. Participating in VAs can reduce regulation, though their benefits can be outweighed by high administration and transaction costs if they are not appropriately designed .

Gaining from green management: environmental systems inside and outside the factory

Article Abstract:

Research on factories implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) shows most are large, committed to total quality management, and generally more innovative than others in their fields. In general, EMS plants are seen as creating less environmental risk for communities and usually function profitably.
