Government, EZLN agree on agenda

Article Abstract:

The Mexican government and the EZLN announced on Sep 11, 1995, that they have established ground rules for further peace talks that will be held later in 1995. It was the sixth round of talks between the two groups. In an unofficial plebiscite, voters approved EZLN as a new political party.

De Leon outlines government priorities

Article Abstract:

Guatemalan President de Leon gave his first televised address to the nation on Jun 20, 1993. He said his administration would try to curtail human rights abuses and political corruption. He also announced that he was hiring Gen Mario Enriquez Morales as defense minister.
