Haute fruiture

Article Abstract:

New Zealand found itself losing its dominant position of $2.5 billion global kiwifruit market by 1989, to new growers in Italy, Spain, Chile, South Africa, and France. Faced with a threat to a major source of natural revenue, they developed a new patented kiwi having a sweeter and more tropical flavor under the name of Zespri Gold, which had sales of $150 million in 2006, 50% more than two years earlier.
