How Kodak's Market Intelligence System Cuts Risk, Speeds Decisions

Article Abstract:

Marketing decisions are very important due to increased competition, scarce resources, consumer awareness, and government regulation. Eastman Kodak Company uses a market intelligence system to gather information and make decisions. This system works within time-frame and risk-tolerance limitations. All information is reported objectively. The market intelligence system integrates problem definition with market information. Examples are provided to further illustrate how this system works. Management involvement and interaction is emphasized. A chart outlines a tool for creative judgement called the Strategic Assumption Surfacing and Testing (SAST).

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Article Abstract:

Executives have many decisions to make. Robin M. Hogarth has conducted much research regarding decision- making. Hogarth disagrees with people's beliefs that technologically based decisions are superior to those made by humans. Rejection of common sense decisions may be a great mistake. Errors in judgement are usually at the basis of poorly made decisions.
