In the heat of reform, super is left out in the cold: industry leaders say that most people will have no reason to use superannuation if it is not included in tax reform

Article Abstract:

Tax reform to be implemented in Australia in 2000 will have to include a reduction in super tax rates to coincide with the lower personal tax rates if the benefits of investing in superannuation are to remain in place. The new tax scales mean that people on a marginal tax rate of 30% will have almost no benefit from super savings.
