Incumbent Won't Play for Lottery
Article Abstract:
GSD&M plans to abandon the $30 million Texas State Lottery account when it moves into mandatory review despite an expected increase in the contract's value to $40 million. The agency, incumbent for six years, says it wants to 'move on' but will not disclose specific reasons for its decision. GSD&M has already lost or resigned two state accounts, including the Texas Dept of Transportation's anti-litter campaign and the state's economic-development division, whose tourism account it lost to Mc-Cann Erickson Southwest. Some speculate that the $750 million shop is being influenced by political changes, notably increased Republican influence in the state legislature, or simply by an increased overall account load.
