July jobless rate declines slightly

The Labor Dept reports that the unemployment rate was 7.7% in Jul 1992, a decline from the 7.8% level in Jun 1992. Unemployment was 14.6% for Afro-Americans, 6.7% for whites and 11.9% for Hispanics.

Article Abstract:
The US unemployment rate fell from 7.3% in Mar 1992 to 7.2% in April. It was the first decrease in nine months. Some 126,000 jobs were created in April, primarily in the service and retail sectors.
