Laggard leaps to the front of the pack

The Maple-Brown Abbott superannuation fund has declined to invest for quick gains in technological boom industries, and has continued with its strategy of investing in value stocks. It is a strategy that has paid off with a return of 4.8% in the period May - June 2000.

Issues are presented concerning the need for one-day share settlements to be introduced into the Australian market to prevent loss of business to overseas markets which are more efficient. The costs involved are discussed.
