Lexmark tracks time, attendance with EAS

Article Abstract:

International computer printer and information technology company Lexmark decided to move from a mainframe to a client/server technology to reduce costs, improve efficiency and streamline business processes. Lexmark also had to replace its electronic time and attendance system called Totals because of its migration to client/server technology. After a thorough evaluation of client/server time and attendance software options, Lexmark decided to work with EAS Technologies and came up with Lextime. The Windows-based Lextime is user-friendly and allows major system changes. Lextime has also expanded reporting capabilities. Lexmark has been able to reduce the number of payroll adjustments from 1,500 per week to only 50 every two weeks. The annual cost of adjustments has also dropped from $500,000 to a projected $20,000.

ModelWare

Article Abstract:

ModelWare is a mathematical software package that allows the comparison between a current balance sheet and an ideal balance sheet created from historical financial information. The program has a feature called 'Influence' which can help accountants identify the appropriate cost drivers that should serve as overhead allocation bases in activity-based costing implementation. ModelWare's graphic output can either be a trend plot or a deviation plot. The program is easy to install and use and comes with a manual that is easy to read, but assumes that the reader knows about computers and statistics. ModelWare is priced at $495 while its advanced version, ModelWare Professional, can be purchased at the price of $1,495.
