Managing sales and customers

Article Abstract:

Sales force automation (SFA) and customer service management (CSM) software are becoming popular as companies realize that it can be instrumental in improving their operations, productivity and profits. Unlike their 1980s progenitors, the new products boast of excellent quality, sophistication and ability to integrate into enterprise systems. The latest versions facilitate the integration of sales, marketing, customer service and technical support software into the general organization. Financial executives who are considering to implement SFA and CSM software should address certain issues to ensure its success, including system integration, data impact, solicitation of support for the investment, software selection and technology cost. Guidelines for preparing for the new software are presented.

The software side of EMU: are your financial systems ready for the multicurrency demands of the euro?

Article Abstract:

Organizations should ensure that their financial software systems are prepared for the introduction of the new single European currency or euro on Jan 1, 1999. This date will be the start of the transition period where the euro will be used together with existing national currencies. During this multicurrency period, financial systems must be able to process transactions made in the euro and base currencies. These should be able to deal with triangulation which involves converting foreign currency values to euro values using the floating rate and then converting the euro values to the participating national currency using the fixed rate. Systems should also be able to address rounding-off discrepancies resulting from conversions and show ledger entries in base and foreign currency values.
