Money Changes
Article Abstract:
New high-technology equipment is increasing the incidence of counterfeit currency in the United States. The Treasury Department is expected to introduce redesigned bills in late 1984 to discourage counterfeiters. A recent study documents that because of the new technologies, thousands of people will be counterfeiting money by 1987. One other possible action to discourage this is the government issuing multicolored money. There are no plans to demonetize when new bills are introduced. Many foreign countries will be introducing new currencies with anti- counterfeiting features in them, about the same time as the United States. The anti-counterfeiting measures are believed to be positive for the gold market, especially if there is a currency recall in the United States.

Excellent Prognosis
Article Abstract:
In order to cut medicare costs Congress is now making fixed payments for particular services. These fixed payments are called Diagnositc Related Groups (DRGs). DRG payments make Medicare patients less attractive to hospitals and more likely to be kept in nursing homes. While this would seem to be a favorable situation for nursing homes, their stock prices have fallen recently. In fact, nursing homes are projected to do very well in the future and experience a dramatic increase in population. Nursing home chains are currently doing very well, though they tend to be highly leveraged financially.
