More Ways to Spread Energy Futures Complex
Article Abstract:
There are several spreading chances attendant to the energy futures complex created by crude oil futures at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMSX) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBT). Spreading can offer lower margins and risk. It may be less time sensitive than straight positions. Spreading is categorized as intercommodity, interdelivery, and intermarket. Charts of each type for 1982 and 1983 are featured. Several spreads are analyzed, including gold and oil, crack spreads, heating oil and gasoline, and leaded and unleaded gasoline. Graphs of heating oil, crude and gas oil futures spreads are featured.
