The National Hockey League Players Assoc settled its labor dispute with team owners on Jan 11, 1995, just in time to allow an abbreviated season to be played. Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the first game would be played on Jan 20, 1995, and the 48-game season would end May 3, 1995.
