Oil: can OPEC keep it up?
Article Abstract:
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) oil production cuts have raised world oil prices, and the share price of some Australian producers has risen, but investors in the petroleum industry are cautious. The best investment choices may lie in the small end of the market. Oil Search Ltd. is trading at about $2.38, well above its low of $1.32. Santos Ltd. is at $5.43, close to its high of $5.60. Woodside Energy Ltd., close to launching a $1.5 billion liquefied natural gas project, is steady at about $12, while Roc Oil Company Ltd. has the most impressive credentials.

Funds under fire
Article Abstract:
Stricter legislation and attitudes toward investments mean that many corporate superannuation funds will post less than stellar returns. As a result, investors may be switching fund schemes. To post an impressive return, a superannuation fund relies on large holdings in the sponsoring employee company. By June 1999, the Superannuation Industry Supervision Act requires that super funds cannot have more than 10% in the corporate parent's share. By 2001, it will be 5%. Benchmarks of performance and a earnings/credit rate list of super funds are included.
