Organization of industrial R&D on a global scale

Article Abstract:

Majority of multinational companies have established global research and development strategies in the 1980s and 1990s. Some of the factors influencing this trend are the need for shorter product development cycles, the increasing international competition and the need to satisfy customers' demand. The high number of mergers and acquisitions of multinationals also affected R&D internationalization. Moreover, most of these foreign R&Ds are also given more authority and are integrated to form an efficient network.
