PC package review: graphics

Article Abstract:

Graphics programs give accountants the ability to increase the impact of their analysis and clarify crucial points for management. Two computer aids are among the best: the HP 7475A graphics ten-pen color plotter (from Hewlett-Packard) and the Chart Master software package for PC graphics (from Decision Resources). The former is a hardware peripheral that gives a personal computer the capacity to draw a wide variety of graphics using appropriate software, of which more than 300 graphics packages exist on the market. The latter is a program that is easy to learn due to its menu-driven approach. Also reviewed are two other graphics programs from decision Resources: Sign Master and Diagram Master.

PC package review: accounting and finance

Article Abstract:

Several software programs for accounting functions are reviewed: Payroll and Labor Distribution, Back to BASICS, PC-FAS, The Management Edge, ConvertaCalc and LoadCalc. Payroll and Labor Distribution is part of a 13-package series from International Micro Systems. Documentation is good and menus are well designed. Back to BASICS is rated as being one of the very best in terms of documentation and efficiency, and includes a tutorial program. PC-FAS has a few weaknesses and is a small program. Problems with it include restricted fields, not-so-good forms and some omissions in the depreciation area. Other accounting software packages for microcomputers are also reviewed and evaluated.
