Percival J. Patterson was formerly elected prime minister of Jamaica Mar 31, 1993. He had taken over as prime minister from Michael Manley in Mar 1992, after Manley resigned because of poor health. Patterson's People's National Party won 61% of the vote to take 54 seats in the House of Representatives.

Adopted girl returned to natural parents

Article Abstract:

Jan and Roberta DeBoer gave up custody of their adopted daughter Jessica on Aug 2, 1993, after losing a court battle to keep her. The natural parents Daniel and Cara Schmidt took the two-year-old girl back to Iowa and plan to rename her Anna. The case focused attention on adoption cases.
