Payments stand-off
Article Abstract:
Statistics have revealed that in 2002, Australians made 63.8 million EFTPOS (the debit payment system) transactions worth $4 billion each month and during the same period they made 80.6 million credit card transactions amounting to $9 billion each month. Though the credit card reforms are in place, there are some worries to be sorted out on the debit side and the regulators are keen to introduce changes to make EFTPOS more efficient and competitive.
