Supreme Court blocks federal affirmative action plan
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court ruled on Jun 12, 1995, that federal affirmative action programs must be held to the same standards as state-run programs. The 5-4 decision in the case of Adarand Constructors v Pena, is the first significant ruling by the Court weakening affirmative action.

Orange County sets repayment plan
Article Abstract:
The Orange County, CA, Board of Supervisors approved a 15-year repayment plan on Feb 7, 1995, that will reimburse investors 77 cents for every dollar they put in. Newly-released figures show the county lost $1.69 billion from high-risk derivatives contracts.
