Article Abstract:

The Australian government's new energy and environmental policies and the attitude of the renewable energy groups over the same are delineated. Public opinion towards recruiting Australia's best-known environmentalist, Peter Garrett, for the purpose of approving the government's energy review about the mandatory renewable energy target (MRET) is examined.

The Australian Labour Party's position on greenhouse gases and renewable energy has made big companies cautious about the prospect of Labour government. Labour seems to win the support of a few companies in the renewable energy industry.
