Price Ceilings That Raise Employers' Costs
Article Abstract:
As legislation passed by Congress which unifies payments received by hospitals for Medicare patients goes into effect, business is afraid the lost costs will be shifted to them. Paying one set price for a procedure could leave hospitals with costs which have to be made up by charging patients, insurance companies and employers higher rates. The ultimate goal of such federal programs is to make hospitals more cost conscious, and ultimately lower health costs for everyone.
