Project management software: usage patterns and suggested research directions for future developments

Article Abstract:

A survey was conducted to determine the usage patterns of project management software and suggest directions for future research and development. Results indicate that most project management professionals are using project management software, including advanced modeling techniques. Usage of project management software can be characterized as heavy at this time and will continue to do so in the future. Size and complexity of the project is the biggest reason why project managers decide to use project management software.

Project characteristics that influence the implementation of project management techniques: a survey

Article Abstract:

A regression model was employed to determine the relationship betwen project management techniques and project characteristics. Results show that characteristics such as project type, project complexity, and resource limitation are significantly related to project management techniques. However, project cost and number of activities were found to be non-significant variables. Further determination of interaction affects among the different characteristics is highly recommended in future research.
