Article Abstract:

The reasons for the decline in Australia's export performance in South-East Asia, which is attributed to the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis, are examined. Though the mutual investment opportunities are high for the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and for Australia, the other factors that affect Australian industries to concentrate in the region are observed.
