Regulating reindeer games

Article Abstract:

'Reindeer games' is a term coined by Theresa Beiner of the University of Arkansas. It is used to describe the social activities that provide employees with a chance to mingle with other members of the organization that may lead to promotional opportunities within the hierarchy. Women and people of color are affected negatively by reindeer games because a 'glass' barrier is created that prevents them from advancing in the organizational ladder. This type of interaction may be regulated by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits employment discrimination.

Roundtable teaches a lesson on influence

Article Abstract:

The Roundtable does not plead for sectional interest, and that has become a strength for the group.
